Alternative Center for Education
ACE
a non-profit organization
dedicated to …
“serving those who learn differently”
ACE personnel would like to thank the JJ Keller Foundation for two generous grants. These grants will be used to defray start-up costs and to assist needy children and adults.
ACE is a branch of the Center for Alternative Learning, a 501c3 nonprofit corporation which was founded by Dr. Richard Cooper in Havertown, Pennsylvania, in 1987.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide educational services for individuals, both children and adults, who because of their learning differences are undereducated or have weak academic skills.
Vision Statement
We are committed to creating an awareness of learning disabilities and differences and dedicated to helping all individuals realize their full potential.
Objectives
Our goal is to diagnose specific learning disabilities (e.g. dyslexia, nonverbal learning disorders, mathematics disabilities) and treat these disorders as well as the learning problems associated with other conditions (Asperger’s syndrome, traumatic brain injury, ADHD, etc.) by:
- administering screenings and formal assessments;
- utilizing research-based instructional methods and assistive technology; and,
- teaching clients self-advocacy skills as they transition into higher level education, employment, and/or community.
ACE is running a summer reading program at the Boys and Girls Club of the Fox Valley.
